Providing compassionate and effective therapy for individuals & couples
I am a licensed practicing counselor (LPC) and have been in private practice for over 25 years in the Washington, DC metropolitan region. My focus with each client is to provide compassionate and effective individualized treatment. I believe in and practice Carl Roger's concept of, "unconditional positive regard" with each client who walks through the door. That is, respecting the inherent value of a human being, no matter what challenges they may be addressing in their lives at this time.
I also take the time to look at each client from a holistic basis incorporating the mind, body, and spiritual components. I believe that each of these aspects impact one another, and all must be integrated into thorough and sustaining treatment. Therapy can be brief in nature or more intensive depending on a client's goals and the circumstances contributing to the concern.
I continue to enjoy the work that I do as I see my clients heal and move forward in their lives. I feel both honored and privileged to work with such courageous individuals, who are willing to look within and make changes, and to be allowed to be a small piece of their larger journey.
Currently in my psychotherapy practice I work with: adults, couples, GLBT, and spiritually inclined people. Issues in which I am most adept in assisting include: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, transitions, self-esteem, sexual orientation, communication skills, co-dependency patterns, stress management, and relationship issues.
